Growing up in rural Nepal where girls were expected to marry young and stay quiet, Sirjana defied every limitation placed on her. With the support of her mother, a local community-based organization, and She's the First’s programs , she rose to become a national footballer, a student at one of Nepal’s top universities, and a fearless advocate for girls’ rights. From organizing 5K races for gender equality to founding her own nonprofit in Karnali, Sirjana is creating a future where girls are seen, heard, and unstoppable.

Mentors Make It Happen
Feminist mentors are essential to safeguarding girls’ rights to be educated, respected, and heard. At She's the First, our vision is a world where every girl chooses her own future. To reach their goals, girls need a strong support system—and #MentorsMakeItHappen!
For International Women’s Day, we're celebrating the personal champions of girls around the world—join us! Set up a monthly donation in honor of your personal champion. By making a recurring gift, you're providing reliable support we can count on—just like you can count on your mentor.
