GIRLS HAVE A RIGHT TO EDUCATION
ABOUT THEIR HEALTH AND BODIES

Comprehensive sex education is in jeopardy worldwide. This is a serious problem; sex education is one of the best ways to mitigate teen pregnancy, which is a top reason girls drop out of school.

And yet:

  • Only 50% of teenage moms in the U.S. earn their high school diplomas by age 22; that's in comparison to the 90% graduation rate by girls who do not give birth. [Source: Centers for Disease Control and Prevention]

  • Only 42.8% of all high schools and 17.6% of middle schools in the U.S. provide all topics identified by the CDC as critical sex education topics. [Source: SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change]

  • More than 23 million girls around the globe become pregnant each year. [Source: World Health Organization]

At a time when girls worldwide have limited, if any, access to abortions, they more than ever need resources to make safer, more informed choices about their relationships.

Donate Today to Amplify More Girls' Voices

She’s the First celebrates girls’ power and actively works to find new ways for them to exercise their power within their homes, schools, and communities. When we held focus groups with girls around the world earlier this year, asking them about the issues most important to them, sexual and reproductive health and rights continuously came up. That’s why we’re developing workshops that teach girls how to use their own experiences to inspire others to take action for girls’ rights.

By donating to She's the First today, you'll help us fund the first workshop in 2023!
