Did you know?

Girls living in social isolation experience dramatically higher levels of school dropout, gender-based violence, early marriage, unwanted pregnancy and HIV infection—all of which usually mean losing freedom for life.

Every girl needs at least 5 friends.

Social support networks mitigate the risks girls face every day. Having friends with the same goals, ideas, and challenges helps them to overcome obstacles that come their way. They’ve got backup when they’re put under pressure or in danger. That’s why we’ve always made sure STF Scholars have mentorship groups, or Girls’ Groups as we like to call them.

This October, donate in honor of 5 friends who’ve supported you. Your donation will provide schooling, mentorship, and global leadership training to these girls, who support each other. We’ll send your friends a special message on your behalf (like this!).

Bonus: Upgrade your gift to a monthly donation for the most sustainable impact.

*Notes will be sent within 3-5 business days of your donation.

STF Scholar Flavia lives in Sacred Valley, Peru, where most indigenous community members live in poverty and face discrimination. But that hasn’t stopped Flavia from dreaming bigFlavia’s ambitions include becoming a psychologist, farmer, conservationist, inventor, and world-traveling Manga artist—all in one lifetime.

Flavia meets regularly with her girls’ group—they call themselves the Women Who Will Change the World—and they’ve never squashed her dreams:

“My group gives me the opportunity to have a moment for myself and think about what I really want to do, or what I really like. This makes me feel confident and that I and every woman in the world are valuable and we can change the world.”

Meet the STF Scholars from Peru whom your dollars will directly support:
Women Who Will Change the World and Eight Chocolate-Covered Strawberries.

These groups of girls, all of whom will be first-generation high school grads, attend Kusi Kawsay’s educational program in Peru.

Women Who Will Change the World This is Flavia’s girls’ group. They meet weekly with their mentor, Indira. They’re currently working on an awareness campaign about environmental contamination and paying attention to the upcoming mayoral election. They say group work is important because “each person is a key part of it and that makes us strong and motivates us.” DONATE HERE!

Eight Chocolate-Covered Strawberries In this group, eight STF Scholars who really love chocolate and strawberries meet up to talk about their latest interests: the movie Coco , plants, and environmental contamination (they’re inspired by the older girls’ group at school). They’re creating posters to hang all over town. Malala is their hero because she was their age when she became an advocate for girls’ education. DONATE HERE!
